The Süleymaniye Mosque in Istanbul, Turkey at twilight. Full moon rising behind over the Bosphorus. It was built on the order of Sultan Süleyman (Süleyman the Magnificent) and was designed by the architectural genius Sinan Pasha, apparently while still a student. The construction work began in 1550 and the mosque was finished in 1558.This was also the evening of the 'supermoon', when a full moon coincides with the moon's closest approach to Earth. The supermoon will be 16 percent brighter than a normal full moon.
