Once a year on Peru's Independence day, a special bullfighiting event takes place in a small town called Cotabambas. A condor, captured from the nearby mountains days earlier, is strapped to the back of a bull. Bullfighting ensues. In short, the condor represents Andean culture while the bull represents Spanish culture. It's important to note that neither the bull or the condor is generally hurt (intentionally that is). Bulls are supplied by the locals and are therefore not stabbed or harmed.
