Built in 1623, the bellfry of the San Diego De Alcala Parish Church in Polo, Bulacan, Philippines (Valenzuela, Metro-Manila today) was the only part of the original church to survive American bombardment in 1945 as they retook Polo from the Japanese. When I was a small boy, one could still climb to the top of the bellfry and have a panoramic view of Polo but around 10 years ago it was condemned structurally and closed off.
