The most common insects, usually capable of pestering just about any human set of nerves... and in the same time, flies are invaluable source of nourishment for billions of other creatures... What are they, then: a blessing or a scourge? Someone said, when God was creating animals, Satan was under the table making flies! So, let's see your best shot of this ubiquitous buzzing creature. And PLEASE, do observe the Rules! It's so frustrating to disqualify some good image, just because its autor forgets to remember...

Flies find food on fragrant Fuchsia flowers.

I saw striped Hoverflies buzzing around and then landing on our Fuchsia plant. I think they were attracted to the plant by its scent. Only after seeing the photo on my monitor did I notice they were actually eating the pollen grains while upside down. Or to put it another way :- Pretty potted pink and purple petalled plant produced pleasant perfume, pointing passing peckish pollinators to precariously perch on prominent pendulous pads of precious pollen.
