Processing rules:

just basic edits like contrast, exposure, color balance..etc.
there are not allowed pictures made in any kind of graphics software

No restrictions.

Additional rules:

Encouraging comments about entries are welcome.
If you enter the challenge, take the time to vote on other entries! This will hopefully counteract the sandbaggers' votes which spoil the genuine results for everyone's entries.
Sandbagging, and vote solicitation will cause DQ'ing of entries, so don't even contemplate it!
Entrants or voters caught cheating will be unwelcome in my future challenges.
Rare birds are encouraged.

Notes:	The scene was illuminated stobist style with 3 external Canon 580 EXII strobes off camera triggered by the internal flash of the 7D. The onboard flash did not contribute light to the scene.

Very nice. It is not Full Frame, 3/4 or APC sensors. A good camera in the right hands gives you what you see. Stop that pixel count'n and shoot. Film is good.

It's certainly not 3/4 or APC because those don't exist. I'm pretty sure that it is APS-C though. Your comment about counting pixels is kind of ironic considering that this shot was taken with a digital camera with an 18MP APS-C sized sensor, and the extra resolution was pretty important for this shot since it is almost certainly cropped. Yeah film is good, if you want your images to look like they came from he 70's and 80's.

The 7D has a 1.6 crop sensor, APS-C. The image was only cropped for the square format, but used the entire height of the original image.

Yes, the strobes did the freezing. With 3 strobes fairly close to the subject the strobe power was set near 1/128th power. I think that produces a very short flash burst less than 1/35000th sec. Much shorter than the fastest mechanical DSLR shutter.
