Challenge has finished

It's usually used in photographing stars, especially to register their "movement" and create startrails. But the process is also used in daylight photography, to achieve effects similar to long exposure. Show your best stacked images done in the daylight - and check the rules before you enter your work. Ignoring the rules will cause disqualification.

Processing rules:

Longer side of the photo MUST NOT be over 1600px.
Format and Aspect may be as you please.
Necessary Post-Processing interventions are acceptable.
No Frames or Borders.
No watermarks, no date/time nor any other identification allowed.

Capture date rules:

No restrictions.

Additional rules:

Stacked images photographed in Daylight only. DO NOT enter Night photos, please!
Your Entry MUST have a proper Title. Camera codes and such will be disqualified.
DO NOT comment under individual entries until the end of Voting Period so as not to influence fair judgment. Comments will be removed.
Sandbagging, vote soliciting or any other improper voting attempt will cause disqualification. Begging for undeserved glory is low and disgusting. Entries showing tendencious voting pattern may be removed.
Entrants / Voters caught at cheating will be removed on sight from all of my Challenges.

Sometimes it is impossible to see what is going on by naked eye. Without a help of high-speed photography and by freezing the moment, this second and a half vault jump would be easily missed.

I too like to know 'HOW' to make this kind of photo. Do I just take multiple shot then erase surrounding backdrop to make each person/per frame stands out? Any tutorial how I can make something like this?

You are 100% correct. It wasn't easy to get into that position. I was approx 1 meter away from Kristian as he ran on his vault jump.

I wasn't worried about me, but I was worried that me being so close could affect concentration of the gymnast. But, I cleared that with his coach, and I was ready to go.

There were other constraints during the shot. I am writing a blog post covering them all.

BTW, amazing gymnast on the photo is Kristian Thomas who has won bronze medal with Great Britain team on London Olympics few days ago.

Unfortunately, he made a mistake at the end of his vault yesterday and that cost him individual gymnastics all-around bronze medal. He finished 7th, but if his vault was on par with the one from couple of days ago, he would be 3rd.

Amazing athlete and amazing person.

This was done while testing new Olympus OM-D E-M5 and its 9fps. It was literary the second day I got it. :-)

Wow - beautiful!!! What software do you use to create these types of images? Do you merge mutiple images (bursts) into a single image?
