Painterly Landscape ~ Read The Rules - Capture Date Requirement
Challenge has finished
Your challenge is to create a landscape that looks like it might be a watercolor or oil painting. Although there are many "filters" and "textures" prepackaged with various applications, I would like you to create your own textures to enhance your entry and NOT use the "off the shelf textures". The texture should be consistent with the original image - some examples might be tree bark for a forest, rippling water for a lake etc.

This is a close up shot of the Painted Hills in the John Day Fossil Beds in Eastern Oregon. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Painted_Hills. Taken with my 50-200mm at 200mm this makes the perfect type of shot for a challenge like this. Shot taken from the main viewpoint trail top looking down. This trip was a 500 mile round trip for me, left my home west of PDX at 2:30am to get there in the morning and got home at 4pm the same day - in time to catch my daughters ball game.
