There is a Tower near Kaiping where seven Chinese soldiers made a desperate last stand against the Japanese army in July 1945. They fought bravely against the enemies in 7 days and nights. After running out of ammunition and food, they were arrested and escorted to the Japanese supreme headquarters. They were cruelly tortured and brutally killed. Their remains were thrown in the river after being chopped in several pieces. Today, Nanlou Memorial Garden is a famous historical site for visiting.
