Mate, originary from the South of South America, (Bolivia, Paraguay, Chile, Uruguay and South of Brazil) is a small calabash or gourd that becomes the container of the infusion of Yerba, the dried leaves of a bush from the region. This artifact gives the name to the beverage (Mate) and sometimes is covered by leather. Is drunk by a thin metal pipe. In Paraguay is usually drunk cold and is called Tereré. In other countries is drunk usually hot. In Uruguay, is very common to see people walking by the city with the Mate and a Thermos with hot water.
