very nice image, I can say. But unfortunately not a very nice "photograph" for me. Producing images on desktop may be an art but not " photograpy" IMO.

Composite or not, it is still an awesome shot. Seems to me photography is an art form and this is an awesome piece of art!

Actually looking at other pics in Spacetime's gallery - it's a composite.. My assumptions were wrong then :D

This took my breath away at first, but after a better look, it's clear that this is Photoshop work. Both the lightning and the unmoving clouds - as noted by another commenter.

Usually a camera falls short of really being there, but sometimes the camera captures something different than our vision is capable of. (Hubble telescope comes to mind). I'm sure this was a beautiful storm to witness, but burned into this long exposure is really striking. Cheers, Seth

this HAS to be a composite image... you cant have clouds standing still for such long durations, while the stars go dancing around all over the sky...

I suspect this is nothing more than a cut-and-paste job of several photos. Is it even possible for stars and lightning to co-exist in the same sky? The photo screams photoshop to me... I feel there are far more deserving entries for the win.

Being a photoshopped image is not really a valid objection given the lack of processing restrictions in the challenge.

And you have to admit that it is a stunning composite - even if this image is just an earlier challenge entry by the same user stepped up a notch with the star trails, that new coat of paint makes all the difference. I say props to the BuffaloSoldier for coming up with such a strong image.
