OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA E-PL1. A terrestrial snail from Borneo that, in color, is quite nice. However, when shown in B/W, a new discovery emerges...The snail's body actually mimics the vein pattern of the leaf. A clear adaptation to avoid predators. And since most animal predators only see in black and white, it is worth seeing the snail as the other animals might see it.

Taken: Monday, 2nd August, 2010
Focal length: 42 mm
Shutter speed: 1/80 sec
Aperture: F8
ISO: 125
Notes: The photo was taken at night, using the camera's built-in flash. The built-in flash only really allows to about f/8, but gives good depth of field at this setting, and avoids needing to use a hotshoe flash which might throw shadows when photographing things in jungle vegetation. The Olympus 14-42 kit lens was used.
