This was taken by my father about a year before he passed away. He never gave his photos much credit, but I think he did a fine job. Judging from the other shots in the series, this woman was hobbling around a square in Budapest begging for money.

whether is paradise or not we shall not judge,
what is paradise for me most likely wont be for you.
For me my birth place is paradise yet for many others is a boring and nothing special.

Its a nice picture..where is the paradise aspect? Budapest?? Nice Euro city, but not paradise i think.

That's what some people looked like when I grew up, few doctors and no real health care. Those I knew did not fake it. Have not tried this position, not looking very comfortable...

This kind of sick is typically of this people, in Italy too it is a typical, look like a kind of epidemic, all who ask money have this kind of back, but when they finish work, they go home walking fast and right.
Anyway great pic.

I think the shot is very powerful.

I see the paradise on the state of "normal" younger and healthier people (i.e. me or most of the voters :), I feel her aching/bended body as being tortured in her current state, add to that her need to beg.

Sometimes we don't need to be very literal on the rules. Photography is art and interpretation.

Good for you. It's a lovely photo and a testament to your father's talent. I wonder if either of the negative comments have ever won anything? Hmmmm :))) or ;)

Oh, and paradise is a perceived state, not a literal place.

Either you can't/don't read the rules or just don't understand English. Paradise may be perceived, but in this challenge it was defined by the host. There is no contrast, it is gray on gray. I think it's a fine photo but don't feel it fits the theme any more then a cat does in a bird contest.

I'd rather play fair then win any day.

Congratulations to the winner.
This is not to take any credit from the winning photo, but I can not agree more with MRonesia that the rule specify "a place others consider being "Paradise" . And so, it affected my voting too, despite that I found the photo an effective statement I did not rated it higher because of the rule of "Paradise"

There might be better ways to share the work of others then entering them in contests, but he did give his father credit so I'm OK with it other then the fact that it didn't fit this challenge. I'm not sure name calling helps though.

I live in paradise and didn't enter because I couldn't get the shot that showed the contrast the challenge called for.
