Creative Filters: Neutral Density

Photographs taken with the use of solid neutral density (ND) filters. ND grad filters are not eligible, as they will be the subject of a future challenge. Please read all of the additional rules carefully - last week I disqualified nearly half of the entries because they did not include details of the type of filter used to achieve the shot. Definition: An ND filter typically screws or slots onto the end of a primary lens. It blocks up to 10 stops of light coming into the camera, allowing for wider apertures or longer exposures than would normally be possible. ND filters can be used creatively to blur moving subjects, such as clouds or waterfalls, or to allow a wide aperture for subject isolation.

Notes: It was 8 am and the sun was blazing so I used a 2 and 3 stop Cokin P filter for a total of 5 stops ND, and used f/22 for a 30 sec exposure. Then contrast and BW conversion in Photoshop with Silver Efex Pro
