The Lucia tradition is one of the most beautiful Christmas traditions in the Nordic countries, mainly in Sweden and swedish-speaking parts of Finland. The day of Santa Lucia is celebrated on Dec 13 in memory of an Italian saint. On that day Lucia maidens appear in many place (like a school Lucia celebration in this case) to bring light into that darkest of seasons up north.
