December 21, 1511, La Hispaniola The "Advent Sermon" was the first cry for justice was heard in the New World, by the mouth of a Dominican friar. Fray Antón Montesino launched the first complaint and protest against the exploiters of the natives, regardless of that, as newcomers, they needed the support and friendship of the conquerors and the authorities of the island's Spanish, reproached them anti-Christian behavior, this got them the human dignity of the natives and they claimed their responsibility as Christians
