In northern Vietnam the Hmong people still flourish. This woman in particular is a Flower Hmong (Hmong Lehn or Hmong Hoa). Their origination is hard to pin down, but it is roughly estimated that they occupied southern China for 2,000 years, and have migrated down to the northern parts of Laos, Thailand and Vietnam. The groups who live in the mountainous areas of these countries are often referred to as "Hilll Tribes" and are native to the areas they inhabit - they are not grouped into any country in particular, and each have their own language.
