Animal colours : Two Tone Birds [ rules below, dont make me DQ you for the sake of a few moments to read the rules ]

Next in the animal colours set, lets see your best shots of any species of bird whose feathering is two tone whether two solid colours or speckled/patterned throughout individual feathers [ other colours/markings are fine but there must be clearly only two feathered colours *within shot*. *Beaks and feet can be any colour, its the feathering that matters for this challenge. If unsure please ask ;)

Processing rules:

FULL COLOUR ONLY
No special effects.
Borders/frames are ok for this challenge.
HDR IS allowed in this challenge
Basic processing, and cloning out of distractions, is allowed.
No watermarks or any other identifying marks/text
No reference to the entrant`s ID in title or any other text option

Capture date rules:

No restrictions.

Additional rules:

No images depicting animal abuse, suffering or death [ nor potential injury or death ], of any animal including fish.
People or other animals can be in view but the two tone bird must be the primary subject.
Entries which do not adhere to the rules as written will be DQ`d
VOTERS :
0.5s should only be given on images of poor quality or for being outside the rules [ if I miss DQing any ].
If giving any 0.5s, reasons should be given, if you give it stand by it.
Voting on thumbnail is lazy and disrespectful, entrants deserve to have their images viewed properly.
Sandbagging / vote manipulation / spite voting - don`t even think of doing it !

I loved this picture the first time I saw it. The pose of the animal tilting its head to the back, the branch of the tree and the colors. Beautiful composition, in addition the animal is gorgeous. Never seen any like this before.
The eyes of the bird and the face are tack sharp.
To me is a great shot.

I agree that the composition is very nice. Now, Tack Sharp is something else ... It may be that ISO 6400 was just needed to get a decent fast shutter - at 200 mm it should have been rather 1/2000 or so - given the quirliness of the little fellow, it is amazig that it got halfway sharp at all . Look at it full res, and you'll see that the feathers around the eye are NOT sharp , so how can the eye be sharp ? - it isn't ..

He got the eye sharp and enough of the rest of it that it works. Beautiful bird!

The only problem may be the bright background just right of center, which is kind of distracting. But otherwise, this pic immediately caught my eye when I saw it & I still like it.

No matter how hard I try , I cannot find but that the little bird is not ultimately sharp in the picture - be it due to bad focus, or to too slow a shutter - might be the latter- also in view of the "desperate" ISO 6400 and F2.8 - with focal length 200, must be quite a lens !

Lovely shot, BUT 5 x 5.0 votes? Also 5 x 5.0 votes for this entrant's shots in 'Around The Pool' and 'Save The World'! Hmmmm! There really isn't any need to cheat in these challenges; let the photographs speak for themselves.

I fully agree with RuthC . None of the 5-vote pictures of this photographer was actually really in the highest category league - also not this one here .
