Submit a photograph of a natural landscape using the principles of Photographic Modernism. Be inspired by the works of the famed Group f.64, which had as members Ansel Adams, Imogen Cunningham, Edward Weston, and others. A Modern landscape ought to be sharp, deep-focused, well-exposed, carefully framed, simply composed, and are processed to bring out contrast and detail.

Processing rules:

Minimal post-processing.
Adding sharpness, contrast, and detail enhancement is acceptable.
Black and white conversion acceptable.
Exposure blending is acceptable, as long as it does not generate noticeable artifacts.

Capture date rules:

No restrictions.

Additional rules:

According to the principles of photographic modernism, your photo should be technically proficient.
You ought to have great depth of field, sharpness, and excellent image quality.
You may want to use a tripod and low ISO for better image quality.
Expose your image precisely. Avoid significant areas of over or under exposure.
Use natural lighting.
Compose your image carefully and simply.
(Note: 'Pictorialist Landscapes' will be the subject of a future challenge in this series. Heavy post-processing and camera effects will be encouraged in that challenge)

This is a great shot without doubt in my opinion ... so this is no slight to the photographer Mark Kay. But it does not comply with the rules of the challenge. Much of the content is not sharp, it is not generally high contrast and it lacks depth of field at far distance. It is easy to understand that this gained high scores, but to be fair to the other entrants and the creditability of the challenge host, this entry should have been removed. Is that not the host's responsibility?
