Atop Mt Davidson in San Francisco, with some superb views of the Bay, I spotted this individual in a tree. But, despite waiting for a good angle, and gradually moving around for a better vantage point, it just wasn't happening. Of course, as soon as I'd put the camera down to admire the view better - voilà! Hovering in that inimitable raptor fashion, filling the lens. (The tag on one leg I presume is from some population study)
