Unconventional Portraiture
Challenge has finished
Submit a portrait that breaks the rules. -- There are many highly-regarded principles of portrait photography. If you master them, you are nearly guaranteed to produce a fine portrait. However, learning and mastering all these principles can be difficult, and you risk turning out mediocre and bland images. -- Rather, for this challenge, disregard or modify the rules of portraiture. You may come up with something new and fresh, but also be aware that you also risk making an image that looks ridiculous. Unconventional portraits are often spontaneous, and they tend to emphasize style or attitude. Not having to abide by rules makes this challenge simultaneously easy for the beginning photographer, and exceptionally difficult for an established photographer in the marketplace.
