The Medium of Photography
Challenge has finished
Photographers usually attempt to produce images that are representations of subjects out in the real world. This kind of representation is not unique, for skilled artists can make pleasing representations using the media of painting, drawing, mosaics, and others. But the photographic medium offers specific possibilities and problems not found in the older art forms. For this challenge, produce images that take advantage of the specific properties of cameras: for example, shallow depth of field, motion blur, wide-angle distortion, or perspective control. Perhaps you have specialty soft-focus, star-filters, diffraction grating, or split-tone filters. Perhaps extreme digital noise is more to your liking, or freezing motion using strobes. Experiment with over or underexposure. If you have a Lensbaby, pinhole, infrared, or a Holga camera, use it!
