Welcome to the 2010 'Challenge of Challenges.' This is our second annual 'Picture of the Year' competition, contested by some of the leading challenge-winning images from the past twelve months. With over 1200 challenges completed this year, we were unable to include every winning entry so instead are asking you to vote on the 100 most voted-for challenge-winners of 2010.
Originally from China, the Akha can be found here in Thailand (north) and also in China, Burma and Laos. The Akha live in homes made from bamboo. They use cogon grass to build roofs of their homes. They built their homes on stilts. Akha villages are generally large in size comprising of thirty houses. Their houses are built on hill tops, as an attempt to avoid the diseases and outbreaks.
