Sports played on Courts Challenge finished on Friday, 21 May 2010 Show us the game action you have from games played on courts. There are lots of sports played on courts (Basketball, raquetball, tennis, pole vaulting etc.), so I don't think I need to list all of them. "Courts" in this case will also mean playing surfaces designed specifically for hosting events. Example: Track and field events are held on tracks. Hold your street hockey for next week's challenge, please. But indoor hockey is fine. ADDED to fix earlier challenges: Your image must be taken during an organized game or competition, or at least in training for a competition.

Low Light: Wild Animals Challenge finished on Thursday, 20 May 2010 Many animals are most active at dawn, dusk or even the dead of night. This makes photography of their activities difficult. Show us your best low light capture of wild animals in action. Please consider both the artistic quality of the photographs entered and how challenging the lighting was in creating the photograph when rating images.
Winner: The Northern Lights
Out Of The Darkness Challenge finished on Thursday, 20 May 2010 This challenge is about taking pictures in dim ambient lighting. On film this was problematic: long exposures suffered reciprocity failure and film ISOs didn't go much above 400 without "push processing." However, modern digital cameras can extract usable images from very poorly lit scenes using long exposures, sensor shake compensation, really high ISOs, noise reduction processing (including stacking), etc. This challenge is for digital images captured in lighting dim enough to start to be a problem for film -- photos that would require an exposure of 1 second or longer with ISO 100 at the aperture setting that you used.
Eggs Challenge finished on Thursday, 20 May 2010 All kinds of color or B/W pictures with eggs are welcome in this challenge
