Tribute to: Ernst Haas Challenge finished on Sunday, 16 May 2010 "I don't belive in photography for photography," Hass said. "I believe that a photographer has to be linked to all the other arts." Ernst Haas was famous for his feel for color. While he photographed in a straight documentary style, his vision led to producing wonderful semi-abstracts in which color itself was the subject. He took seamingly mundane subjects and presented them with a painterly, poetic quality simply by how he captured light and color. Show us your best photos which evoke the style of Ernst Haas

Translucency, transparency,... Challenge finished on Wednesday, 12 May 2010 Glass is an amazing matter : it's solid yet it lets light go through. We, photographers know that better than anybody else. Some of us spend hours, days, even our entire professional life looking for diffraction, distortion, chromatic aberration, to name but a few of lenses' potential flaws. But the act of seeing through an un-homogeneous matter - be it old window glass, a piece of cloth or a plastic film - creates interesting compositions. This is want I want to see! If in doubt, look at pictures below to get an idea of what I expect.
