Cities - The beautiful and ancient ROME Challenge finished on Thursday, 22 Dec 2011 Cities are a part of our all-day-life. So show us your impression of this city (I like general themes). But notice: NO VATICAN-PICS. The Vatican is not Rome, it's another country. Perhaps the Vatican will be the theme of a coming challenge. Just one other instruction: Tell us where you shot the photo (otherwise be dq'd)!
Blue Flowers Challenge finished on Thursday, 22 Dec 2011 Very simple: just submit your best picture of flowers with color "blue"...
B/W Macro... Challenge finished on Thursday, 22 Dec 2011 This is a very broad theme. I'd like to see a macro shot , preferably something new , and please submit it processed as Black and White. Choose carefully. I hope to see some good contrast in the submissions. Have fun and good luck!.
Magazine editorial: Watersports Challenge finished on Wednesday, 21 Dec 2011 The client is preparing an article entitled "The Joy of Getting Wet." It's about the many sports that take place on and in the water. By "sport," the client wants actual sports, not a kid splashing around in a wading pool or the like. By "wet," the client wants sports were people really get wet, not yachting where someone might get splashed a bit. To attract the readers' attention, the image must be bold and the subject clearly visible (a photo of someone off in the distance is not acceptable).
Winner: the dream house
The best bird shot Challenge finished on Wednesday, 21 Dec 2011 Only submit pictures that have scored 1st - 5th place in this series.
Winner: Auroa Borealiso
Errors, Slips, And Blunders: ISO Soup Challenge finished on Wednesday, 21 Dec 2011 If there's one general problem that's common to nearly all cameras, it's ISO noise - whether it be from using the no-flash auto setting, shooting in the dark, trying to catch fast action, or your flubbing the manual settings. Whatever the case was, your resulting photo is nearly or entirely unusable because of too much "grain".
Snow Challenge finished on Tuesday, 20 Dec 2011 Snow is (nearly) here in the Northern hempisphere. Lets see some pictures!
Patriotic Challenge finished on Tuesday, 20 Dec 2011 “What is liberty without wisdom and without virtue? It is the greatest of all possible evils; for it is folly, vice, and madness, without tuition or restraint” Edmund Burke. This is just a idea of one man’s thoughts on patriotism. What does this quote mean to you?
