Monsters, Ghouls & Other Horror Stories Challenge finished on Tuesday, 12 Apr 2011 Hello. This is the 3rd Challenge in the Disturbing Or Intense Series. PLEASE BE SURE TO READ THE RULES. Especially with regard to the SUBMITTED IMAGE SIZE. This one can be fun & tongue in cheek, or a serious statement about your issues with the Planet & life :) The title speaks for itself. Monsters & Horror Stories, Ghosts that haunt you, Monsters that pursue you. The fears you have experienced, encountered or collected in your travels through time & life. Anything goes, B&W or colour. Any processing. BUT, stick to the theme with regard to the subject matter & composition. Apparitions & Ghouls etc must appear, take shape & be enticed to pose as the main subject in your image. Ideally we must be able to see a story about yourself through the materializing of your Monster. Image quality & composition still counts. Be creative, but make a point. Most of all, have fun :)
Winner: Manhattan Bridge on clouds
The Medium of Photography Challenge finished on Tuesday, 12 Apr 2011 Photographers usually attempt to produce images that are representations of subjects out in the real world. This kind of representation is not unique, for skilled artists can make pleasing representations using the media of painting, drawing, mosaics, and others. But the photographic medium offers specific possibilities and problems not found in the older art forms. For this challenge, produce images that take advantage of the specific properties of cameras: for example, shallow depth of field, motion blur, wide-angle distortion, or perspective control. Perhaps you have specialty soft-focus, star-filters, diffraction grating, or split-tone filters. Perhaps extreme digital noise is more to your liking, or freezing motion using strobes. Experiment with over or underexposure. If you have a Lensbaby, pinhole, infrared, or a Holga camera, use it!
