I can see myself from here Challenge finished on Thursday, 03 Feb 2011 This challenge is for photos that you took, of a scene including YOUR FACE, using a camera with live view display positioned so that you could see yourself. On some cameras, this is easily done by flipping the rear LCD out. Some cameras can do this electronically by feeding the live view to an external display or computer. However, it's even ok to simply use an external mirror to reflect the back-of-camera display so you can see it.

Vertical billboard: Lifestyle Challenge finished on Wednesday, 02 Feb 2011 The client is converting an old office tower into condominiums. People can see the building quite easily from the road and there is one blank wall ideally suited for a vertical billboard ad for the developer. Rather than show images of the interiors, the client wants a lifestyle image: one that conveys living in a luxurious downtown residence. The image must depict urban life that will appeal to upper-middle-class couples.

A Beggars Leica Challenge finished on Tuesday, 01 Feb 2011 Sometimes we forget to grab our M9 with the 1.2/50 Noct. when we go out. Or... like the most of us, you just can't afford to spent a couple of months salary on a red dot. Don't worry, the best camera is the one you have with you, and the one we almost always have with us, is our cellphone camera. So... show me your best street shots, taken with your cellphone camera.

High Photographic Modernism Challenge finished on Tuesday, 01 Feb 2011 The Group f.64 championed the notion of "straight photography" - making prints that best expressed the technology of photography without additional artifice taken from painting and drawing. They thought that their techniques were objective, and they rejected the subjective quality of earlier photographic styles. The famous photographers in this group, which included Ansel Adams, Imogen Cunningham, Edward Weston, and others, tended to make images that were sharp, deep-focused, well-exposed, carefully framed, simply composed, and often used difficult and time-consuming darkroom techniques to bring out detail in the image. Being from San Francisco, California, USA, they often had Western US themes, showing a way of life that was being lost, as well as showing a land of inspiration and hope. They also photographed large public-work projects and the plight of the worker during the Great Depression. However, images submitted to this challenge need not follow these themes.
