Arty Arm's-Length Self-Portrait
Challenge finished on Thursday, 12 Mar 2009
We want to see you take on the newest (and most maligned) photo genre: the arm's-length self-portrait. A shot of you by you minus the trusty tripod is the aim here. Get the camera in hand and get creative with your lighting, setting and composition. Prove to the social-networking crowd once and for all that the arm's-length self-portrait need not be mediocre.

Pointless scene modes
Challenge finished on Wednesday, 11 Mar 2009
A challenge for compact camera users only. We've been known to poke gentle fun at the plethora of scene modes which adorn modern compact cameras, here's your chance to prove us wrong. Show us a picture which illustrates the unique advantages of a scene mode, either using it for the purposes for which it was designed, or using it creatively for special effect. Whether it's 'White Dog' or 'Aquarium 2', show use what your camera can do.

Faceless portrait
Challenge finished on Monday, 09 Mar 2009
You'd think that a portrait, by definition, would have to show the subject's face? That's certainly considered a good starting point by most photographers, but the creative photographer knows that the most interesting results often come from doing exactly the opposite of what's expected, so for this challenge we're asking you to include little, if any, of the subject's face in the frame. The key thing here is that we're still trying to shoot a portrait, so you're still trying to capture something of the character or personality of your subject, just in a slightly less obvious manner.
