Magazine editorial: Sailing life Challenge finished on Wednesday, 11 May 2011 The client is a writer looking to illustrate an article on sailing. The article is intended for an upscale publication so it needs slick, professional images. The photos must evoke the feeling of life in AND AROUND sailing boats. Although people can be in the photo, they must not be recognizable (dark glasses may suffice).

B&W at night with CANON DSLRs Challenge finished on Tuesday, 10 May 2011 ****ALL shots must be taken with CANON DSLRs**** The theme here is night and all shots must be B&W, no other form of monochrome allowed! All shots must be night shots. Therefore, they must be taken out-of-doors. The sun must be below the horizon, but, otherwise, twilight or the darkness before the dawn is acceptable. You may turn color photos into B&W but, for my money, nothing beats using the B&W mode on your camera, creatively. To keep things fresh, only shots taken after the Challenge is announced will be accepted, so when processing, be sure that your EXIF is intact. So check that your camera's calendar is correct. And of course, you must use a CANON DSLR.

Submit a photograph that has scientific or technological importance: consider astrophotography, photomicrography, or other photos with scientific, industrial, or technological interest. Just because a photograph has scientific interest, that does not mean that it must not be a striking and memorable image in its own right.

A Pen & Your Signature Challenge finished on Tuesday, 10 May 2011 Signatures are like pictures. Everybody's is different. Just because you use your classmates or coworkers pen doesn't mean you will get the results they will get. Same thing with a camera. You could use Ansel Adam's camera (or whoever your favourite photographer is, mine's a tie between Ian Hylands, Sterling Lorence and Sven Martin), but that doesn't mean you would get the same picture that they would get. Inspired by Ken Rockwell's article.
