Your worst picture ever
Challenge finished on Saturday, 14 Nov 2009
We've seen so many really nice pictures posted in Challenges section in the past, but everyone has to go through the growth path to get there, has to take time to get there. Why not recall our memory and see how successful you are today. So if you still have your first shot or worst shot in your hard driver, share it with us, we'll learn from you.

Wild Creatures: Amphibians
Challenge finished on Saturday, 14 Nov 2009
:: An Insight into the Natural World III :: The challenge here is to post your best picture of an Amphibian, either tailless, e.g.: Frog or Toad - or tailed, e.g.: Newt, Salamander and Mudpuppy - or legless, e.g.: Caecilian (very unusual and hard-to-find creatures. More information here: http://www.sandiegozoo.org/animalbytes/t-caecilian.html). The Amphibian should be the main subject but it can be pictured in its natural environment - interacting with other animals, etc. If possible, please include information about where the photograph was taken and the name of the animal, if you know. Many species of Amphibians are under serious threat of extinction - so please take care in their habitat.

Composition: Fill the Frame!
Challenge finished on Saturday, 14 Nov 2009
Beginning photographers have a tendency to keep well back from their subject. The acronym SCUFI (Shoot Close-Up For Impact) was coined to remind novices to get in close and fill the frame. Using a STANDARD FOCAL LENGTH lens (between 35mm and 65mm equivalent), demonstrate your ability to get in and fill the frame with your subject. Be careful not to crowd the frame, just get in close to prove you're not afraid of the subject. (Note Additional rules.)

Disconnected
Challenge finished on Thursday, 12 Nov 2009
This theme can be interpreted in many ways -- a telephone with the wire cut off, two people turning their backs on each other, or a homeless person roaming the streets. Be creative.

Old Manual Focus Prime Lens
Challenge finished on Thursday, 12 Nov 2009
Over the last 30 years, photographers have become used to a variety of convenience features such as wide-open auto exposure, auto focus, and zoom lenses. Unfortunately, these features cost us depth-of-focus preview, precision and robustness of physical construction, and the superior IQ of prime lenses. This challenge is for photos created combining the best of both worlds: modern digital image capture and processing with an old, high-quality, manual-focus, prime lens.

Abandoned places
Challenge finished on Tuesday, 10 Nov 2009
Show us places of abandoned places. Houses will probably be the most common ones, but try to find other man-made things that were abandoned and started decaying, or that show how humans or animals are missing from. Think "ghost towns" when you search for entries :-)
