Chimneys
Challenge finished on Monday, 17 Aug 2009
Chimneys have traditionally been built of brick, both in small and large buildings. Early chimneys were of a simple brick construction. Later chimneys were constructed by placing the bricks around tile liners. To control downdrafts venting caps (often called chimney pots) with a variety of designs are sometimes placed on the top of chimneys.(wikipedia)

The nimble and nifty Nikon D40
Challenge finished on Monday, 17 Aug 2009
The 6-megapixel Nikon D40, sometimes maligned on Dpreview forums but reviewed quite well elsewhere, is a very popular DSLR. On Flickr alone, the D40 is, among all Nikons, the second most popular camera: Flickr counts 30 million items (only the D80 bests it at 43 million). And Nikon.com still lists it. Submit your best D40 shot. No restrictions on subject matter (or lens). But: EXIF must accompany your photo, else I'll disqualify it.

Vanishing Point
Challenge finished on Friday, 14 Aug 2009
Post your best shot of a 'Vanishing Point' (a point at which receding parallel lines seem to meet when represented in linear perspective)- could be a road, train tracks, pier etc. The major condition is that we must see the vanishing point in the image (to clarify, we don't have to see an exact point- please don't complain about images that don't have an exact point). Please do not include any people or animals in the image. For this challenge, the image must be taken AFTER the announcement date of the challenge. Note: Any complaints about the entries, must be submitted ONLY during the submission phase. Once the submission phase ends and voting starts, complaints will not be entertained.

Pentax (Samsung) DSLR Only
Challenge finished on Thursday, 13 Aug 2009
This is the second in a series of "xxx DSLR only" challenges. "If you're into sports photography, Pentax won't be on top of your list." At least, so they say. True, frame rates were low and buffers were small. With these limitations, Pentaxians argue, you just have to be a better photographer. Show us your skills capturing fast moving things. Trains, planes, cars, animals, people - it's your call, but make sure that the subject is razor sharp.
