Dramatic Light: Golden Hour Portrait
Challenge finished on Saturday, 22 Aug 2009
The first and final hour(s) of the day, when the sun is just above the horizon, provides unusual natural lighting opportunities. The low angle of the sun creates long shadows and simultaneously diffuses and warms the light. This "golden hour" allows for quite dramatic portraiture. Show off your best golden hour portrait image. (Note additional rules.)

Home is where the Heart is.
Challenge finished on Thursday, 20 Aug 2009
Frederick W. Robertson said: Home is the one place in all this world where hearts are sure of each other. It is the place of confidence. It is the place where we tear off that mask of guarded and suspicious coldness which the world forces us to wear in self-defense, and where we pour out the unreserved communications of full and confiding hearts. It is the spot where expressions of tenderness gush out without any sensation of awkwardness and without any dread of ridicule. For this challenge find the images that fit Mr. Robertson's description of the places we call home. Images can be color or black and white.

Old hotels - old motels - old hostels
Challenge finished on Wednesday, 19 Aug 2009
"The word hotel is derived from the French hôtel (coming from hôte meaning host), which referred to a French version of a townhouse or any other building seeing frequent visitors, rather than a place offering accommodation"...yes but we need those hotels, motels, hostels who were offering their accommodation for a loooooong time and they have kind of hmm, soul is a good word for that. We would like to see those nobel and historic ones but we wouldn't mind frightening ruins. We even invite them with a warmness in our hearts.
