SHIP WRECKS.

Ship wrecks is a famous subject for photographers and probably the most famous for those that are dealing with underwater shooting. For all the others, a ship wreck is a source of pollution and a death trap for divers. So, take your equipment and give us the artistic point of view of a ship wreck!

Your Ancient History
Challenge finished on Monday, 16 Nov 2009
Recently I submitted photos to several challenges that I took decades ago as a teenager. They did not do too badly, and one was actually in the top ten. Now it is your turn. Show an early photo, perhaps the first photo that you took that you believe was worth showing to others but that you never submitted to a contest or challenge. For some of you that will be a piece of ancient history. For others, it will be more recent history. You must indicate in the notes your age now and the age that you were when you took the photo. The ‘honor system’ prevails. Please read all of the rules below before participating. Let’s have some fun with this one.

I want to go back there!!
Challenge finished on Monday, 16 Nov 2009
This is for people who travel and leave a piece of themselves everywhere they go. Let's post photos of places we've been to and that we miss so much. Places where we want to go back. It would be great if we could post photos linked to particular emotional feelings that help us to understand why that place is so attractive to you. Photos are stories, so tell us something about the place and about your experience there. Let us empathize with you, give us a little bit of your feelings. I wish everyone to go back to the place you are longing for. -paradiso

More of the Extraordinay Ordinary - After the irony of Elliott Erwitt
Challenge finished on Sunday, 15 Nov 2009
Look at the work of the great Magnum photographer, Elliot Erwitt for his wonderful way of catching a quietly poignant, humerous or ironic moment. I don't mean his excellent photojournalism, but his personal work that shows his great sense of the comedy of life. Be rigorous, the subject and composition should be really arresting and amusing. Erwitt's work never looks planned but seems effortless and much of it is the lucky moment of being in the right place at the right time with the eye and skill of a great photographer. Work that does not fit into this subjective category may be disqualified. Please look at the Elliott Erwin websit for more insight into this great photographer: www.elliotterwitt.com I hope to see work that is better than my own paltry samples.

Wild Creatures: Amphibians
Challenge finished on Saturday, 14 Nov 2009
:: An Insight into the Natural World III :: The challenge here is to post your best picture of an Amphibian, either tailless, e.g.: Frog or Toad - or tailed, e.g.: Newt, Salamander and Mudpuppy - or legless, e.g.: Caecilian (very unusual and hard-to-find creatures. More information here: http://www.sandiegozoo.org/animalbytes/t-caecilian.html). The Amphibian should be the main subject but it can be pictured in its natural environment - interacting with other animals, etc. If possible, please include information about where the photograph was taken and the name of the animal, if you know. Many species of Amphibians are under serious threat of extinction - so please take care in their habitat.
