Mean Streets in Black and White
Challenge finished on Monday, 14 Sep 2009
Street photography, black and white only (conversions are allowed). This is homage to Robert Frank and his “The Americans” collection, as well as other photographers of the 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s engaged in social commentary. Your submissions can be international in scope. Your photo should tell a story that has social, political, or humanitarian content. I will summarily disqualify any submission that is saccharine, staged, or banal. Note to voters: Your evaluation should emphasize the content more than the quality of the photographic image. Nevertheless, the usual conventions about composition apply. If you are planning to rate only from thumbnails, we would rather you not vote at all.
