- Instagram-like Portrait of a Man- (with Border, Date and Title)

Challenge has finished

Pick a portrait photo of ONE male adult human being taken in 2012 (Some reasonable degree of the face must be visible). Then apply a digital filter to it. The final photo must be confined to a square shape, similar to Kodak Instamatic and Polaroid images. Photo can be taken with any camera, i.e DSLR, SLR, Mirrorless, Compact, Smartphone, etc...

Processing rules:

No composites please.
Cropping and photo repair is ok, but do not cut out or remove out the background.

Capture date rules:

No restrictions.

Additional rules:

Only entrants who have won at least one photo challenge in Dpreview.com can enter
I might consider allowing entries from beginner participants with less than 30 entries, if their entry is on par with the rest of the field.
The total entry limit is now set at 35, it might be increase if the challenge is well received.
Do not submit shots used in previously completed DPReview.com challenges.
No political statements please, any photos with the slightest hint of controversial statement or message will be removed without any notice.
Shots I find offensive might be removed.
Make sure the entries look good and tasteful (at least you must find your own shot tasteful).
Complaints might not be entertained after the voting has started.
The host's action (or inaction) is up to him.

Thank you, Wildbegonia! I made the filter myself in my Photoshop. It is basically the color of the background and "overly" over the photo, masking the head out!

IT WAS VERY CLEAR IN THE TITLE ITSELF - what do u mean by saying more clear.
It is typical, a fair number do not read the rules clearly and also violate- see in each competition -someone putting a water mark, name and what not.
The sad part is to blame the host. They are doing the duty of enforcing the rule declared for the competiion.

Few of my entries were also disqualified and later I realised my mistake.
Nothing is lost, come with great entries in the other challenges.

Not so aggressive, and do not shout! No reason to. For me it was unclear that the date and title had to printed on the photo itself. I thought it was kay to give it a title and provide the date (not everyone always do that, some challenges even specify that the photo should be title less).

So I just gave some non agressive feedback to the host of this challenge about this not pointing any fingers.

I do not know what your problem is, but I would try some anger management.

For the Submission 'Reflections' which got disqualified, I still dont understand what was wrong. Yes I did read and i had the border, title and date. And No i havent won a challenge before but the rules say a submission might be considered. Then what was wrong???

You submitted a rectangular shot, when its required to be square.

I've checked with the host and he says that although not stated in the rules of this challenge the photos must have a border, date and title on the photo as is usually included in his challenge rules. Border date and title are mentioned in the title of the challenge and he expects them to be incorporated in his normal way. Also Instagram has a specific definition not just referring to a square photo as taken on Instamatic cameras.

There is time to withdraw, alter and re-enter if you miss these elements.
