Show us flower buds JUST as they are starting to open, the centre of their blooms ALMOST visible, their beauty nearly ready to display itself to the world. The flower bud/buds should be still in their natural environment, not under studio lights. Insects or other small creatures may be present in your entry but must not dominate the picture. SIZE DOES MATTER: See below!

Processing rules:

SIZE: Longest side of entry, MAXIMUM 1600px.
Digital photos only, with full EXIF data.
Colour only.
No HDR.
Don't remove the background.
TITLE: Give your entry a title, not just an photo number.
NO watermarks or forms of identification.

Capture date rules:

No restrictions.

No photos from previous DPR challenges can be entered in this challenge.
Encouraging comments about entries are welcome.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE! If you enter the challenge, take the time to vote on other entries! This will hopefully counteract the sandbaggers' votes which spoil the genuine results for everyone's entries.
Sandbagging, and vote solicitation will cause DQ'ing of entries, so don't even contemplate it!

I have DQ'd entries from Rekha, and Rekha Singh, who has/have been operating multiple accounts in this, and other challenges.
He/they are not welcome to participate in any of my future challenges, since I believe that this is a very low form of cheating, and is unfair to all the other entrants who abide by the DPR rules.

Because of the popularity of this cheerful subject, I've increased the entry limit to 100.
I'm also aware that some of the entries are not what I personally envisaged when I set the topic, and tried to describe what I wanted, namely, buds just opening to expose their centres.
That is MY mistake, and MY fault for not writing more clearly. So, I hope that when you vote next week, you too will also be more lenient with the entries.
The most important point of this exercise, I believe, is to go outside, and enjoy seeing and capturing the beauty of the flowers.

No, your description is perfectly clear. I can't believe how many contributors always pop up with just some snapshots that simply show they don't care about photography at all. And about the sandbagging: simply check out some of the piccas that win or almost win: crazy, really, even a blind man can see it's rubbish: bad harsh lighting, no clear focus, terrible framing and so on. It's getting a bit of a joke these challenges to be honest.

One of my frustrations with the challenges is vague or ambiguous requirements set by hosts. That is not the case here at all. I think you expressed your requisite conditions very well.
