Taj Mahal at agra, India, during night, after sunset and before sunrise. No day pictures please. Pictures with human or living (birds etc) backdrops will be given weightage.

I just returned from Agra a month ago and was hoping just for just that, a night shot of Taj. Frankly, it's very difficult, if not impossible unless you are perched up high on a tall building, or you have spent a week scoping out Agra to take this shot. Taj is completely dark from a distance.

Good luck to the select few who can enter this one.

To best of my knowledge, Taj entry shuts by sundown. Opens at night only once a month for full moon - if it is not on Friday, if some VIP is not visiting it, if there is no religious or other function around and so on....!!!

You are quite right, but the picture can be taken from a distance where the entry to Taj Mahal is hardly required. I think you will appreciate the point. Thanks.

I suppose because of terrible pollution and the controversial Oil Refinary near by even at day time in bright sunlight Taj looks feeble :( I doubt you can even see Taj at night. its not illuminated :(

It looks nice in the night if there is some moonlight on the particular day... People click pics from the rooftop of the nearby surrounding guest houses...and even from roads. Taj is open for night viewing on certain days....

I am sorry, but this kind of themes are only for a very small group of people!... Do I have to buy a ticket to India and be there at night to participate in this challenge?... really!

Try some imagination. If you visit Agra, you will notice that Taj Mahal is visible from a very far distance even if you do not have access to it after sunset.

I wish I could fly to India and then go to Agra in my "Imagination"! Then, to take a shot at nigh... in my imagination, of course; and fly back, in my imagination to participate in this challenge that I am sure is just an imagination!...!

This is a website with worldwide readership. There are almost 1 billion people in India, and some 3 million people visit the Taj Mahal every year.
I don't think this is a small group of people.

All said, as on date, getting a half decent night shot of the Taj is very difficult, given the security restrictions and the horrible particulate pollution. However, on a full moon night it does look spectacular, even from afar. The lights on buildings/ streets et around the monument lead to lots of light pollution, thereby spoiling the shot. I think this challenge is a bit restrictive. We do want to see lots of nice images, don't we?
