Against The Light

Shooting against the lightsource creates a lot of problems for any camera. Usual outcome is a silhouette of your subject, characteristically lacking detail. A common remedy in such cases is using a flash or a light reflector to add light where it is needed. Let's see some successful examples in your shots taken against the light! There are rules to observe, too - PLEASE read carefully before entering your work.

Processing rules:

Digitally taken photos only - MUST have full EXIF.
Longer side of the photo MUST NOT be over 1600px.
Format and Aspect may be as you please.
Minor Post-Processing interventions are acceptable.
No Composite photos - One-Shot photo contents only.
No Frames nor Borders.
No watermarks, no date/time nor any other identification allowed.

Capture date rules:

No restrictions.

Additional rules:

DO NOT enter just shapes or silhouettes. Your theme / object should be visible in some detail (lighted frontally as well).
"Against The Light" means shooting toward the lightsource with the input angle of the lens being greater (wider) than the angle at which the light enters that lens, i.e. where the lightsource would fit* within the frame of the picture.
* The lightsource itself may not be visible if there is an object between it and the lens, of course. That's the "normal" way to avoid it.
Observe DPR Rules on decency.
DO NOT comment under individual entries until the end of Voting Period so as not to influence fair judgment. Comments will be removed.
Sandbagging, vote soliciting or any other improper voting attempt will cause disqualification. Begging for undeserved glory is low and disgusting. Entries showing tendencious voting pattern may be removed.
Entrants / Voters caught at cheating will be removed on sight from all of my Challenges.

Does this effectively mean that the light source must be within the fram (unless obstructed by an object)?

Yes, your lightsource should by definition be within the picture frame; whether obstructed by an object or not. It's your choice.

Are HDR pictures ok?

Yes, of course. This is one tool to be used with care. Properly used, it should aid the picture while not being recognizable as such.
