Too much sexy on here and plenty of pretty subjects but few pretty shots. Admittedly it's really a very subjective subject - I do not find babies pretty/cute at all.

My opinion is that much more then half of the photos are off topic!

Pretty:
- which is done with grace
- set of natural qualities that confer a special loveliness and harmony to someone
- composure of attitudes and gestures
- attractive in a delicate way without being truly beautiful.

The question of defining the meaning of "pretty" seems to have caused some confusion. It does not mean "beautiful".

Here are some dictionary definitions: 1 a : artful, clever b : pat, apt
2a : pleasing by delicacy or grace b : having conventionally accepted elements of beauty c : appearing or sounding pleasant or nice but lacking strength, force, manliness, purpose, or intensity <pretty words that make no sense — Elizabeth B. Browning>

To my way of thinking "pretty" suggests attractiveness combined with fragility and a need of protection.

I have voted in this competition I had a hard time with it defining pretty, Some are beautiful, Some are cute, some are handsome, and some are indeed pretty. I use my first reaction to a photo to vote. and I see over 4062 votes?

So does what I see when I open up this challenge the average of votes already cast? So if I see page after page of no votes nobody is really paying attention to this challenge?

Is the youngest sister in Downton Abbey Sybil or Edith? Because I really need to know your judging criteria. :o)

Tricky question. The obvious answer would be Sybil, but somehow I find Middle sister Edith very attractive as well for some reason. Lady Mary is obviously in a class of herself, not being pretty, but more of a very classic beauty, mirroring her aging but still unbelievably beautuful mother, Cora Crawley.

And while we are at it, I cannot fail to mention Anna, who in my view personalize that the best beauty comes from within, being the wonderful person she is.
Underestimated, but also a good example of inner beauty is in my view the almost divine Lavinia (may she rest in peace), whose love and loyalty is unheard of ever since Matthew so very unfortunately lost her in the flu.

I hope this answered your question on my view of beauty, in the sacred world of the Crawley's.

It's just a Downton Abbey joke type of thing. But I agree, each is beautiful in their own way (though I find Edith scheming...). Sybil has some inner strength with her. Mary is very elegant, but she is kind of opposite of Sybil, because she appears to be strong, but she is actually more vulnerable than the other two. :-) I just finished Season 2 Disc 1, so don't spoil too much detail! :-D Yes, Anna is lovely, loyal, ambitious and faithful.

Let's see if I can find some photo that would exhibit inner beauty (this conversation actually is helpful). :-D

Thank you for treating my question seriously. ;-) It's charming to meet a fellow Downton Abbey fan on DPR. Yeah, I can't wait to see the rest of Season 2. Season 3 is announced. Yay!
