Hi Wildbegoniai; originally stumbled here via Google, I quickly checked-out the photos. Looking at yours a 4th time (after your post) revealed what troubled me previously and I would say it’s a winner but you have to edit a little for that.

It was the top black portion (a distraction); so, in software, edit replace the black with blue by 1st sampling the upper most blue color then use it to ‘Fill’ in the black. 2nd - Touchup any edges using ‘Stamp’ or ‘Clone’ tool and there you have it, an ‘outstanding’ photo. I can see (in your gallery) your attempts to look beyond the present image at hand, the trick is to visually understand what it is your imagining for the photo to be and then capture it that way. Keep doing, what you’re doing.

Greetings; may I presume the forums a place for encouragement, criticism, an academic place to cultivate ones creative talents. Always cherished communities where creative’s can be inspired & would like to comment regarding the ‘Lace’, why photo may have won and why others should not have been overlooked. Hope that you find it useful.

My Pick's:
1st-Seduction by GNapp Studios;
Good aesthetics, technical merit, only entry that had the 'gotcha' effect, which translates to an exciting photo.

2nd-DSC_3109bwre by Elfranco;
Good aesthetics, technical merit, an attempt to challenge viewer as to what is 'lacy'. Don't care for the centering crop tho.

3rd-Human statue by BlackBicycle;
Creative, challenging (I like that) but where's the 'gotcha'? Incredible lighting/contrast can make a 'gotcha' happen also.

4th-Laces and Lace by an04roadking;
Love 'humor', it can substitute as 'gotcha'. Could have taken at alternate angle to challenge the viewer and improve aesthetics.

Woman are beautiful and sex is good, I dont see evil in show some sexuality. SOME. And with lace, erotic had to appear sooner or later.

The important thing for me is the intention: do we want to get visitors by appealing to instincts... or want to show art that includes sensuality...? Depending on that I will position one way or another.

Very interesting points you are making here, Helena.
I also think it is very important to have the ladies opinion on this touchy issue.
As for myself, I am against any censorship and in favor of freedom of expression. We are living in 2012 and I find it sad when I see some people bringing up their own sens of "Moral" and try to impose it to others!
Photography is a very important tool of expression and people should feel a complete freedom of using it!
True, there are also things that can't be considered as "Expression" and should be avoided in our society.
But as the saying goes; the beauty is in the eyes of the beholder!... ;)
BTW, congratulations for 2012 Euro football! ;)

Helena, at the link bellow there is a supposedly sensual pic that did bad in that challenge, and rightfully so. That is a good indication that if a "sexy" pic is bad or vulgar, it will get low votes in dpr. Skin, flesh and sex must be nicely shot to go well.

WIKIPEDIA DEFINITION:

I don't see any porn, either!... Some people see porn everywhere. maybe they have it in their mind!!!

But again, I see too many .5 and 1 point votes!!!...I think it would be a good idea if the host check with other hosts to see if these are the same people who are trying to sandbag entries!
