Basically that. Main subject(s) must be adult human(s), which (collectively) shall be more than 2% of the photo area. No minors must be visible in the photo, unless they are < 0.5% of the photo area.

I hope your comment Is not meant to imply that I am a lazy impartial host. Otherwise, i could mistaken you for another one of those irrational people who thinks hosts works 24 hours a day. Anyway half of your complaints are not valid. As long as the shot shows some part of the face, be it a chin or a cheek, I'll allow it. You complained also about small people in big park. As long as all the people area adds up to be more than 2%, i deem them ok. As for the other complaints, thanks for your help. I need those after being out travelling the whole day at work. Those have been processed.

Please, don't be defensive; I didn't mean anything that you are suggesting! ;) I am pefectly aware that being a host is not a "Full time job" and you have your own life to take care of; plus, the time laps between countries! ;)

I am not another of those "irrational people" and neither did I try to bug you; I just wasn't sure about the rules and was surprised to be DQ since I was seeing the same "problem" in many other cases!... I am very happy if I could assist and thank you very much for considering my suggestions (at least half of them!).

But to be honest, I still don't think some of the entries are according to the rules. For instence, this shot is from behind as was one of mines:

Two of my entries were DQ because in one you could see the figures from the back; and in the other, the figures were too small. In complains, I noted to the host that in some other entries, people are also from the back like for instence the last page of this challenge; and in some other shots people are at least as small as my people. But I see nothing has been done,... yet!

I really don't mind for being DQ if I am not following the rules; but for the sake of fairness, the same rules must be applied to everyone!...

Okay, not to grumble too much, but can someone PLEASE tell me what is wrong with "minors' being visible in the picture? Please don't propagate the silly myth that taking photos of kids at the park equals being a pervert.

I wonder who is the one doing the propagation of perverted thoughts. I don't have problems with kids in photos, I just don't think they have a place in photo challenges, especially those which I'm hosting.

Why? I don't trust the voters to make a good judgement on pics with cute kids. Their brains get scrambled and they go all...'Aawwww... That's so cute. I'm going to give it a 5 star cos it reminds me of my own son/baby girl/niece/my neighbors.

A hypothetical example would be say in a hypothetical Idols talent competition, a lady who can sing like Amy Whinehouse ends up losing to some 3 year old singing 'Rudolph the red nose reindeer'. Thats why shows like American Idol puts an age limit to maintain the credibility of the contest. Otherwise it's a JOKE!!!

Some serious photographers who vote, also had also complained of having to wade past dozens of shots of someone's ugly looking kids. If I can putI a stop to this nonsense , why not.

(ConanFuji) Well when you put it that way, I can understand it. Most definitely. What you are describing is what you could call the "Full House Syndrome" (as in the TV show from the 80s-90s). My own wife just went through a phase of wanting to watch Full House DVDs every night for HOURS upon returning home from work, and it drove me crazy--anything a kid did was AUTOMATICALLY superior & of a higher priority than the adults' lives. Oh my goodness, I could hardly stand it.

If THAT is what you are trying to prevent, I couldn't agree with you more, and my apologies for not getting it the 1st time.

What I was talking about is the common scenario you see nowadays whereby if you are a male in the park with a camera snapping photos, people think you're a pervert. (Have they never heard of Henri Cartier-Bresson?) In one case (tinyurl.com/65qguv) a father was called that even when he was photographing his OWN kids. But that's another topic for another day.

Hi Larry,

Thanks for your explanation. I do come across more and more of these news of people being accused of being a paedo pervert.

But it's a very real problem, and unfortunately this means people are being hauled up wrongly too. I have no solution to that, perhaps convicted paedos should be refrained from holding a camera.

Thanks also for explaining Full House Syndrome. I can totally relate, as I grew up in the 80s and 90s. Probably Bob Saget couldn't agree with you more! The press was always going on about how he's a very tense fella off the camera. Can't blame him though, that poor fella.
