This challenge is about vertical panoramas. As most panoramas are shot horizontally I'd like to see some of your vertical ones.

Processing rules:

No HDR.
Resize to a MAXIMUM height of 10000 px, smaller sizes are no problem, it just shouldn't exceed 10000 px!

Capture date rules:

No restrictions.

Additional rules:

Mention the stitching method in the technical description.
Pictures height should be at least 1.5 times the width.
Panoramas should consist of at least 3 stitched pictures.

Hi RaptorUK and to everybody,

Minimal post-production means adjustments on lightning, contrast and color, and I just see few pictures with more than that.

the main subject of that challenge is the increase of 0.5 stars vote, there is a hard storm of that vote, almost all over the best pictures, and I don't refer to mine. This is a manipulation of the challenge and I think that DQ that vote will be a good decision.

Votes can't be DQed.

There is no mention of minimal post processing in the rules . . .

I voted plenty of 0.5s for entries that didn't meet the rules, the Host was told about the issues and should have DQ before voting so Entrants could resubmit . . . the Host dropped the ball.

Well, everyone, and especially RaptorUK: I won't host a challenge again due to people like you, who, in my opinion, take this waaaaay to seriously.

I do not have a lot of time to moderate and check everything (mr. Raptor does have a lot of time, he even checks exif data to capture date rules). If this is the way it has to be, I'm off. Thanks Mr Raptor for ruining my idea to host a nice challenge with some nice pictures. And, if you don't mind me saying, get a life sir. Don't annoy and offend people (in this case, me) who just want others to have a nice time looking at nice photographs.

You don't have any comprehension of the necessity for fairness ?

If you didn't have time to be a Host why apply to be a Host ? why post comments saying "please add the stitching method in your tech description?" and then when it isn't added leave the entry in the Challenge ? you said you would DQ . . . and you didn't.

If you had done it when I suggested it the Entrants would have had time to resubmit their entries. I try to help and now it's all my fault . . .

Mr Raptor. Sure I do have a sense of fairness. What I did not know was that apparently there is a Challenge-Police i.e. you.

I did DQ a couple of entries on the basis of them not following the stitching rule or a ridiculous height/width ratio.

You know what, the thing is that I just wanted to host a nice challenge, with nice people and nice photographs, there are no prizes, no awards or rewards. And due to the voting process the best picture will win. Next time (if there is one, thanks to you demotivational skills, thank you so much...) I will try to write rules that are not open to any interpretation.

And to be fair, where did i mention that anything but offending and demotivating me was your fault? Sure I could have been a better host, it was my first time, cut me some slack sir.

You, old chap, should take it easy, breathe deeply and relax.

I hope there is a next time for you to Host a Challenge . . . we want the same thing, a good Challenge with good Entrants with good entries.

Fairness is critical though, you take time Hosting the Challenge, but 47 Entrants also took time in entering, you have to be fair to them. You have to enforce your rules so that those that adhered to them are not disadvantaged unfairly.

Learn from the experience and you will do a better job and have an easier time of it.

sorry I brought this discussion, these contests are a way to pass time and see photos of other people and other ways of seeing things. Do not take things so seriously, even if they were paid contests, and RaptorUK, believe me your picture does not follow the rules (Pictures Should Be at least height 1.5 times the width) and not that it is a bad picture, but also gave you 0.5 because it was clear did not follow this rule.

Before I leave this closed only reiterarm that I do not like 0.5 and try not to give them ever by a respect for the work of fellow photographers.

Thanks for the challenge Drmatiz, and I hope you keep putting new ones.

"Pictures Should Be at least height 1.5 times the width" is not mandatory . . . it says "should" not "must" . . . if it has said "must" or didn't not say "should" I would not have entered the image I did . . .

Well photographic friends. As this was my first challenge I learned a lot about running one, especially about creating 'rules'. Next time I'll try to make rules and follw them trough, or just leave them out (which may be better for creativity anyway). I'd like to leave it at this and go on to do the next one...

@Raptor, we may differ from opinion on some points, but no hard feelings ok? (last thing, English is not my native language, I wrote 'should' and meant that as a requirement. Nevermind ;) ).

If you want a review of your next Challenge before it goes into the Submission stage simply ask in the Challenge Discussion Forum, plenty people there will give you some tips and any other help that they can.

Attn: the Host,

Should the frame (the shot) be vertical or the subject?... Some of these shots are not "vertica'!...

In the rules, you said: "Pictures height should be at least 1.5 times the width!"

@sparkey2: 10000px is the maximum(!) size, smaller is allowed, but in my panoramic experience smaller sizes not always represent the skill and beauty of a photo and its maker.

Please please please remove the apostrophe from the word "panoramas." Incorrect and not necessary, unless you are indicating that the panorama owns something or belongs to something. (Ditto your use of "one's" when referring to vertical panoramas.)
