Submit two photos: an original landscape or cityscape and a second version of the same photo that you have edited to save from the trash bin. Read the rules. There are specific requirements. If these requirements aren't met, I'll toss out your entry.

Processing rules:

1. on the original, no post processing aloud.
2. on the edit, post processing is required to any extent you find necessary to save and image.

Capture date rules:

No restrictions.

Additional rules:

1. Submit two photos. They must contain the same title with one exception. The last word of the title should state "original" for the original photo as it came from the camera. For the edit, the last word of the title should say "edit". If either photo does not specify (in the title... not the description or the note) which version it is, I will disqualify both photos.
2. in the description. state "this photo was taken at ..." and state where the photo was taken. If it does not state this in at least one of your photos in this exact phrasing, I'll disqualify both the images from the challenge.
3. This is a contest for landscapes or cityscapes. if your contribution does not fit this requirement I'll disqualify your entries. (Only the "original" image must meet this requirement... for example: if the edit was a cityscape and cropped down to become a portrait, I'll let it remain in the challenge).
4. Wildlife or people may be present.
5. Any image may be voted on.

Sugarbaker said that it would "make for some interesting results". Sure did! My original (6th place) was voted better than my edit (22nd place). Not in my opinion!

Perhaps if each submitter's original and edit were displayed side-by-side and more people voted, this challenge would have been more meaningful to those of us who seek an honest, objective opinion from his/her peers..

I agree, in your PP'ed photo the dogs coat is lifted nicely and it is much better. I think that the people that voted for one might not have voted on the other.

Wow, this was the first challenge I entered. Didn't realize the voting was so poor. Seriously like 2 down votes and you're done. The results are a bit silly in my opinion.

If you enter the contest you should at least spend the time to vote on the photos. I think there were like 4-5 votes total for most photos. Poor show...

I think voting in this was hard because a lot of the photos were supposed to be bad to start with. Most challenges don't go like this one so enter some more and you'll see better results. It's a fun exercise though and helps you improve your skills and PP thought process so that's a good thing.

I'm disappointed that the submitters' original/edit entries have been scrambled in the voting stage. I found it very interesting to view the original/edit sequentially during the submission stage since it allowed for evaluating the submitter's success at "saving" an image. Now, it's practically impossible unless one is willing to search thru the other 89 entries for the image's mate. Did I misinterpret the intent of this challenge?

I too am sorry that the entries are shuffled. As the challenge host, I can view them in various order. I didn't realize voters would not have sorting options. It will make for some interesting results.

vote for each photo with the stars you feel it deserves. in theory, the saves/edits will be the better. that being said, I wouldn't be surprised if some originals rank higher than some saves. hopefully the 1st place photo is an edited one!

The last rule/guideline clearly states "any image may be voted on".

I understand that, I was just thinking the challenge was about saving a bad photo. No worries, it's just a challenge. I guess if you want to do a challenge about before and after it would be best to combine the 2 photos into one image so they can be viewed together.

as some of you may note, I am leaving in entries as long as they state the location in any form (rather than using the exact language stated in the rules). I realize that the rules are very specific, but also that many of the contributors to this site may speak another language than I do and something may be lost in translation.

How do I upload RAW images?

There is nothing like a not postprocessed image. Depending on the picture style that EVERY digital camera has, there is SOME post-processing. The only RAW data is inly in RAW files. And even they have to be decoded using a specific profile to view them...

So, more of a 'can you follow the rules' challenge than anything to do with photography?
What does it matter if the entrant copies your words exactly, its a PHOTOGRAPHY forum.
'Please enter the place that this was taken in the description', is perfectly acceptable.
'State "this photo was taken at" and then state where taken, if not in that exact phrase i will disqualify you', is just egotistical.

I understand that the rules are specific. The problem is people's inability to follow simple rules. The last challenge I ran had a very simple theme and the number of horrid entries was incredible. The point of this challenge is more associated with post production/editing to create a good photo. The strict rules are in place to eliminate any question if a photo should happen to be disqualified. I will not be offended at all if you choose to not participate. Thank you for pointing out that this is a photography forum (I especially like the 'all capital letters' you have used).
