NO watermarks.
After that it's a post processing free for all, anything goes.

All of my entries on challenges are like that also.. There are just 10-20% of views per # of votes. DPReview should allow pics to be viewed first before being voted since thumbnails doesn't tell all...

What's the point of the pixel rule-how does that relate to the quality of the picture?

It relates more to the quality and enjoyment of others that will view and or vote on the challenge. Sorry to hear it bothers you. Not everyone has blazing fast internet and this makes it easier for people to see full screen images that don't take 5 minutes to download. How big is your monitor that you need them over 900 high? I'd like as many people as possible to get a chance to see these full screen.

I guess that would make more sense if you said no greater than 900 pixels, but you stated that it had to be exactly 900 pixels. Full size files don't upload to the contests anyway. You could perhaps have added the rule no files greater than 1mb instead.

I tried a few different ways before settling on 900. It doesn't seem to stop challenges from filling so I'm OK with it. For me it is the best compromise between quality, size and speed. Until DPR comes out with a standard each host will do what they think is best for their challenges.

dear host correct me if I'm wrong.. if you say 900pixels in height at any width..means width should be equal or greater than the height (a landscape not a portrait) if may happen if width is less than the height size...thxn (but maybe a small size pic)

900 high and as wide as you want. It can be portrait or landscape doesn't matter. It can be 600x900 or 1600x900.
