I think, challenge host is not "qualified" at all for the job ..

I don't like pointing out people, but you called me out here so lets review your submission. There were 4 basic rules,

(1) MUST BE EXACTLY 900 pixels in height and can be any width.
(2) BORDER and (3) TITLE on image is required.
(4) NO watermarks.

Of those 4 your submission was,
1- too big.
2- no border.
3- no tile.
4- had a watermark.

So, you got ZERO of 4 rules right and you call me not qualified??

Now I understand English might be a second or third language for you, but you need to at least try to read and follow the rules.

It's the hosts job to set rules that fall within DPR guidelines and then to insure it is fare for all entries by having everyone follow the same rules. That is all I try to do. over half get it right the first time which tells me most people can understand the rules if they take the time to read them. To be fair to them I DQ the ones that either don't understand the rules or are just not taking the time to read them completely.

Ok...I have to say my piece here...Senn_b, what exactly makes you feel this host is not "qualified" to offer this challenge? Do you have sour grapes just because it requires use of skills you don't possess? Honestly! -There are so many challenges that I have been unable to participate in due to my own limited knowledge, and I went and LEARNED how to do some of the things that allow me to now participate. Why would you sit there and launch negative accusations, and spew what amounts to "name-calling" just because this particular challenge didn't suit you? Why not volunteer your time and sanity to host your own version of a challenge then? Nobody's holding a gun to your head, and telling you that you MUST participate. If you feel that your skills won't meet the requirements, then do something about THAT, rather than act like the proverbial dog in the manger, and trying to ruin it for the rest of us. Grow up and quit acting like such a troll! (sorry...but I had to say it).

As a host I can still see all of the photos that I have DQ'ed. I do have a screen shot of your entry and it clearly shows that you didn't bother to read the rules even though they are pointed out in the title.

After this one you went back and tried again. This is where most people that missed things get it corrected. The problem was you only corrected 2 of the 4 rules, you added a border and removed your signature. You did resize it but you made it too small the second time and you didn't add the title. So, you were DQ'ed again.

To be honest, there are just too many people that don't read the rules for me to hold all their hands through the process. I do get PM's from people asking me to help or clarify things and I do my best with them. They are trying to learn some new tricks to use with their photography and that is part of why the challenge is the way it is.

Thanks for answering me, .., I won’t reiterate my argumentation, it’s above, others will appreciate. Just let me precise two things, .. (1) after Adobe Elements the photo does have dimensions you demanded. (2) to your discharge (!), I didn’t remove signature in the second version. You didn’t check it, as it deserves, and probably as most of DQ ones. I think, your handling of this challenge is far from irreproachable, .. IMHO, in your turn, you need to pay more attention to communicate and to try to understand your vis-à-vis.

I agree with Len. Instead of a photo competition, it seems to be a challange to interpret the rules. I also put the title in the "assigned place and was disqualified.

Sorry if you have trouble with it. The rules are short and simple and most people get it the first time. More are DQ'ed for the size then for not putting the title on the photo. I'll see if there is a way to spell it out more clearly in the future.

You didn't dis me that I can tell. You just voiced a frustration. I know how it feels when you get DQ'ed and have been rewording my rules in order to minimize that as much as possible. I have changed it in the next challenge that requires border and title to what is below. I hope that is clear for those that take the time to read it.

But if a photo is DQ due to size or forgetfulness about adding a title, and if communicated on time, can one retry entry once the photo is corrected?

As long as there is still room in the challenge and it is still open for submission you can keep reentering. I've had someone take 5 tries to get it right.

Adding a title is very confusing where it calls for a"TITLE" in the submission frame. I entered my title there and was disqualified... I added a border but thought the title requirement was met on submission... Clarity please...

It's in the rules. "BORDER and TITLE *on image* is required." It says right there, on image.

Sorry, not sure how much clearer I can make it. There are only 3 rules, border, title and size, yet I have to DQ many entries for not reading them. The good news is you get a second chance.

Some nice photos going to be disqualified because they have no border/title... Mike, I know it is your challenge but most of the photos would look better w/o a border... JMHO, of course.

I agree. The concept of the border is to get people to use there PP tools to add to the image. The trick with borders is making one that enhances the shot if you can figure out how to do that. It's just part of the series. Sometimes it's not your best photo, but the one that looks best with the right border.

I've been disqualified once in Red with border and skipped the Blue challenge. I have to agree with jpmalohesr, border made it distraction more for me. Any tips on how to make a border with lightroom and then add a title? I want to learn it please.

This series is supposed to be about using PP tools like Photoshop. If a border is done right it can add to the photo but it is a skill just like taking a great photo.

LR is more about adjusting your photo and if there is a way to make a border and title on the image I'm not sure how. In effects I can use the post-crop vignetting tool to make a basic border but that is about it.

My goal with the series was to open the door to other things you can do to enhance your photos, but without the right tools it is not possible. For those people these challenges will not be something they can partake in. The good news is that are 4-10 (green) themed challenges a year so you will have an opportunity to enter one at some point.

Even though I did pretty poorly on this challenge, I self-learned how to do a border/title so it was a great learning experience. I also couldn't do it in LR so used Elements and didn't do so great with it. I will try harder next time. But I appreciate these challenges that become learning experiences like this.
