This will be a regular series as long as it remains popular. For this reason the entry limit will remain small. If you don't make it into this one, another will come around in a few weeks.

I like challenges when abstracts or ideas must be portrait. I have no takes for this challenge yet but I really like it. I strongly suggest that for this type of challenge to request the applicants not to give titles to their submissions. The idea here is "abstract", its beauty should stand on its own without references to the tangible world. I see some takes and look at them mesmerized by their beauty, but kind of the magic fades when reading in the title what it is. What do you think?

Sorry but as other people have pointed out, how can you tell for sure if an abstract photo has been pp'd? What if there is a lot of artistic effects applied IN the camera? How can anyone prove how they created an image? I've read enough fighting on DPR to see that valid arguments can be made for both sides of a dispute. I'm not a judge, just a host trying to provide fun challenges. The more rules there are, the less fun it seems to be for anyone/everyone, so I have made the decision to be among the many hosts that do not impose a laundry list of rules.

Rules have been changed to: do whatever you want. There will be no DQ's. FYI: the next challenge in this series has been announced and it is specifically for those images that have a lot of post-processing done.

I could do quite a bit of PP in my Olympus E-5. Art Filters, cropping, multiexposures and different settings. All from RAW files.... According to the rules?

then doesn't that make it useless to say no PP? Can you tell if it was done in camera or out?

You know what? You're right. I won't be DQ'ing anyone. Do whatever you like. There *is* a challenge just announced where entrants can do any and all processing they like though, if you think the entry would work better over there.

What constitutes "major" PP? Are the following acceptable or not?
1. B&W conversion from RAW, and conversion options similar to the old B&W film filter options and development/contrast options.
2. Cropping
3. "Global" exposure adjustments (that is, not messing with the curve)

They are all fine. Also for everyone to keep in mind -- tomorrow the next Abstract challenge will be announced and in that one anything at all goes, entrants can do all the pp they want no matter how extreme.
