The funny thing is that there are more comments than photos. I guess it is pretty hard for photographers to take only the one photo, especially when we actually have camera in hand and some time to shoot (it is hard for me either:).

P.S.: respect for those who REALLY took/wil take only one shot on "that" day.

Nice challange. Takes away the shoot and pray for a good shot. Makes us think, setup and compose before shooting. Basically. Be the photographer, not a tourist.

WOW! What a fun idea. I had already used the camera this morning before I read this so I might have to wait a couple of days as I already have plans for tomorrow. I've had my eye out all day for something to take that one picture of. I'm still low on the learning curve and shoot manual so knowing you tools is critical. if I want to get it right the first time. I plan on putting some thought into this and hope to enter if all works out.

Great idea, and thanks for getting my brain going in a different direction. Even if I don't enter you got me thinking so I'm already happy.

Thanks But hope you do take that one shot I know its hard. I know we all are looking for that one great photo we take in our life so we sometime just click away and hope for the best. it's like the old saying "stop and smell the roses". Enjoy your day.

I remember a story from an old press photographer about when he first joined the newspaper as a kid. He was sent out with a 5x4 press camera and one film holder to get a photo, and the old guy who ran the office said "Don't forget, you've got another sheet of film in the other side of the holder, in case you stuff-up the first shot!" Talk about pressure!

Nice challenge!

It was a fun shift in my photographic paradigm, focusing everything on "the shot". First time i think I've been happy with a completely untouched photo in a long time ^.^
I believe those who truly enjoy this challenge can remain honest to themselves and the challenge :)

Photography is a hobby of mine and it is not my primary source of income. Having said that, when I go out and set up for a shoot, I have my mind set to shoot as many angles as I can on a subject. (average ~700 on a good day)

This also means that I will need to charge my battery, clear my memory card, clean my lens and sometimes set up a tripod. I admire the challenge but in all honesty the "One shot" is too strict. Good luck with the honesty part also on a digital camera. It's just way too tempting not to "take one more just in case" :)

Maybe it will be "OK" if you say take your best shot on a Monday. And quite frankly the weekly time capture requirement is hard enough to comply, much more the "one shot" policy. All the best in this challenge.

I can add to your motivation, to get your one shot right, I used to shoot Echtacrome transaperency on an 8x10 field camera, (look it up). Everyshot with developing cost $27.00. you learn to pick up the paper cups before you pull the trigger. Your all just spoiled. And wait for the right light.

Thank you seems like some people are afraid of a challenge. Would think that people would research, one subject get to know their subject, check out weather conditions, lighting conditions, and challenge that one moment to get a great shot.

I did this exercise once and it was well worth it. Yes, it was hard to not take pictures all day but BOY was I thoughtful and careful with the one I took. I would encourage people to take up the challenge. Anybody can do anything for just one day.

How about us having more than one camera? I have five. One photo each?
I salute the idea, but I must think of it as kinda "Mission Impossible". Honesty question aside, you are actually asking people NOT to shoot for one whole day - and it seems to be a sort of great big price to pay for entering this Challenge...

I think I'd rather have teeth pulled out than take ONLY ONE shot on a particular day! I regularly take 100 or more, just for fun, to see what I can achieve, with lighting, textures, shadows, etc., not to mention chasing bugs, beetles, spiders.... (and they don't usually wait for me to take the perfect shot).
How are you going to check that entrants are being honest in their submissions?
Seems to me that cheating will inevitably be rife.
