Show us your best naturally framed picture (ONE only - not two). However, entry in this challenge also obliges to give comments about all other entries in the series. Eventually you may enter an improved version of the first photo. See additional rules. Processing rules:

Post processing is as cosmetics, use a little and it enhances the end result artistically. Use too much and the result is blatantly artificial, which is frawned upon in this challenge. So HDR and standard basic post processing is okay, as long as it is not overwhelmingly noticable.
No compositions, we want honest pictures

Capture date rules:

No restrictions.

ENTER ONLY ONE PICTURE FIRST!
Each entrant must, on their honor first, write a helpful Comment/Critique for the other 19 entries no later than the ending of the voting phase. It should be describing what they like and/or dislike about the photo, and what they may have done differently,
After receiving comments it is allowed to enter a second improved version of your first picture.
Include "second version" in the title.
DO NOT WITHDRAW THE FIRST PHOTO THOUGH. we should be able to compare them.
To allow proper evalutation and balance loading times, the longest side of the submitted picture should be between 1000 and 1600 pixels
The number of participants is limited to 20. This cannot be reflected in the total entry limit. It will be announced in the comments when the challenge is full. Expect DQ if you enter after that.
Comply with the standard DPR decency rules.
photos must not have been entered in previous challenges.
Failure to comply with these rules may result in DQ.

About the non-commenters, I'm afraid I had not enough control on this one, due to the festivities and concentrating on the next challenge. What I wanted to do was giving a heads up to the non commenters. I did that in the next challenge (macro) and will do it again tomorrow.

It has been proposed to DQ persons who did not comment, we have discussed that, especially since the first place is involved. It's almost certain that the lack of his/her comments is primary a language problem. He had no idea what this challenge was about. I could have found out by an early heads up.

As it is, I feel I can't sanction somebody for not speaking the language. I hope you understand. But we are working on improving this challenge.

Beyond me there are 19 participants in these challenge and only Pangloss commented on the second version of my picture. I invested my time commenting with care all the images submitted, so I expected a minimum of respect.

Thanks to Andre and Barb for hosting - thanks for those who participated and wrote comments - and not so much thanks to those who didnt write comments. You participated to receive comments so its only fair to give some too.

Usuallt I dont mind voting on challenges I participate in, but in this case I found it impossible: - I allways vote on first impressions - on the effect the image has on me, and having looked at all the images in detail and having formed an opinion, influenced by comments from others, made it impossible to me to have a "fresh look".

Dear contestants,

To minimize DQ's of new entries we have adapted the maximum to the number of entries momentarily, making it full in the system. We intend to reopen it daily from 8:00 pm till 10:00pm UTC standard time and again the same period in standard eastern US time. It would be great if you could enter your second photo then.

Should this be inconvenient then please send a personal message or post a reply here and we'll adapt the time.

Please please please, DO NOT ENTER NEW PICTURES. THIS CHALLENGE IS CLOSED.

The DQ number is 12 now. Apologies again for those concerned. I've set myself up for the most unpopular host :( We have to adapt procedures for sure.

edit: I'm thinking of limiting the opening hours to post an improved picture and have the challenge full outside those hours by adapting the maximum number. Those who read this and understand the procedures may understand why they have to wait to upload the second picture.

Unfortunately I had to dq several new entries, which was probably to be expected. My apologies again to those concerned. I'm thinking of adapting the procedures and limiting the challenge to 20 entries for the first few days, anytime when a second picture is entered I could increase the number.

As per now we are on 17 contestants. As said at 20 we declare it full, however there will be some extra room for posting of improved second pictures. We will adapt that number as we go along, to prevent that we have to DQ too many new entries.

Hey folks, the idea isn't to read comments and replace what you submitted. It's to read comments and add another photo if you find the comments help.

Also, changing the photo after you get any comments, is going to make it hard for everyone to remember to comment on anything new, so please choose something you don't mind leaving in for the whole challenge as your first submission.

Do you mean "composition" or "composites" in the rules on PP.
Also, 2 entries per user and 20 users makes it 40 max, not 25, unless I am missing something. Fun,fun, fun.

Should be composites, thanks for the heads up.

Don't worry about the max number. I can change that anytime. It's just limited now to prevent DQ-ing too many second pictures from contestants who don't read the rules.
