IMHO, the best course of action would be to retract the Challenge and rewrite the Rules stating precisely what the requirements are. Olyflyer formulated it concisely enough; I think that's what you intended originally. If you continue the Challenge like this, you'll get all but the w/a photos and a total voting impossibility.

Oh, and "lower" should read "shorter" (length) or "wider" (angle).

Very unclear rules, which we can see by the contributions as well. I know what you meant, but apparently there are many people who don't, or they don't care to follow the rules.

You should have stated that "Any image with a *FOCAL LENGTH* lower than 20mm (135 equivalent)" is what you want. 20mm on an APS or FourThirds is NOT extreme wide and on a P&S it is quite long. There are plenty images wich are taken with 18mm on APS, I even found a 29mm. Now, 18mm on APS is 27mm (1.5 crop factor) or 29mm (1.6 crop factor), or a huge 36mm on a FourThirds if 35mm equivalents are calculated.

So, go on, DQ all the ones which are not following the rules. My message to the voters: 0.5 to all those who are not following the rules, no matter how nice the image is.

I agree with the above. Next time they have such a challenge, they should specify that is uses an ultra-wide lens and is made from a single photograph (no stitching or panoramas).
A logical criterion, that's not too exclusive, would be to specify a maximum 20mm focal length on 35mm format and then specify the equivalents for smaller sensors. Thus for my m43 sensor, focal lengths of 10mm or less would be acceptable. There should be enough people with wide zooms to submit a reasonable number of entries.

I am a bit confused. If the challenge refers to focal length and I use 19 mm with a small sensor (point and shoot camera) that would mean a tele lens equivalent.
Even with an APS-C sensor you would have about 30 mm 135-equivalent focal length.
Is that an extreme wide-angle as required and would this be allowed?

Sorry, but I'm still confused after your reply to *chrisby*.
Let's say that a focal lenght lower than 20 mm on a APS-C camera is OK (which means that I can post a pic from my Canon 450D with a FL of 19 mm, equivalent to 30,4 mm in Full Frame - crop factor: 1,6 -). Apart from the fact that it doesn't sound like an EXTREME wideangle focal lenght, what can you say about cameras with tinier sensor, like 4/3, 1/2.3, 1/1.7 and so on?
It seems you are confused too about the concept of focal lenght: you can get an extreme wide-angle shot only with a EQUIVALENT focal lenght lower than 20 mm. The real focal lenght is meaningless, since 20mm can mean only mild wide-angle on a APS-C sensor and standard or tele with smaller sensor...
You had better say that you meant 20 mm of 135-equivalent focal lenght...

Yes those would be allowed also I called it Extreme wide-angle shots because you can get a 180 degree wide angle lens

Ok, every lens lower than 20 mm is allowed, regardless of the equivalent focal lenght in 135-format.

You CAN'T get 180 degrees with 18mm on APS unless you merge several shots into a pano. 18mm is not extreme wide, in fact not that wide at all. Your answer to chrisby is nonsense because a simple "yes" says yes to all of his questions, including the remark about P&S.

I have seen a wide angle lense which is 180 degrees, It has a big round lense at the front to capture a 180 degree image.
