Photos of number 0. The phrase "zero" or shape "0", or whatever that represents the number, must be visible in the photo, and not too open to subjectiveness. It's better if printed, painted or carved somewhere. Don't waste time (mine and yours) posting photos where you just "count 0 of something". Hehe.

The next challenge by Ndray should be Circles and Spheres! Zero is a number, a sliced orange is Not. LOL.
Nice photos though!
Remember the .5s is used especially for challenges like this where people are too lazy to go take a picture of Zeros.

I totally agree. For me though, it's so helpful to see other entries that do adhere to the rules. I was trying to express that, even though the ranking process may be a joke in some challenges, we can all still benefit from quality entries - regardless of how they eventually place.
Sorry if my comments came off as argumentative - that wasn't my intent.
Really just wanted to say that I'd appreciate it if you would continue to participate.

Sir, thanks for the explanation. You can define it the way you want. It does not matter how much theory you add to it, Zero is both, a number and the numerical spacer. Zero is an integer, an even number, a rational number, an algebraic number and a complex number. In physics as well as in chemistry zero defines quantities, temperatures, atomic numbers, etc.
The key element here is not to create a discussion about what you, me, the Mayans, Pythagoras and the rest of the world theorize about zero. The key is to promote the proper adherence to the rules of the challenge. ...and common sence.
For some philosophers the circle could be defined as a square with more than four angles, ...and that could be the perfect excuse for some participants to include rectangles in the circle challenge.

10 to the 54th power - isn't that the national debt? (groan)
So, zero is the absence of value - kind of like black is the absence of color? I can't quite grasp the concept that white is all colors and black is void of color.
I hope you all will participate, though. Even if the ranking process is garbage, good photos can still be admired and appreciated.
And, after all, we can relish that - in the 'real' world - not following the customer's specifications usually just gets you fired!

Zero is a place marker in that @ the measured value of 10^-54 the number is in powers less than one but greater than zero. Its inverse is somewhere out there heading for infinity:)

You are right Mr. Baker, zero is not a circle, zero is a number, a circular shape with value. It is intended to be a number. Any other round thing is just a circle, a sphere or something else. That is why there is another (coming) challenge named "circles". In that challenge we can put the moon, the earth and any other ring we find in nature.
Similar issues were contemplated in "number nine" and "number six" challenges. Spirals are not numbers. And sadly those were the ones selected as winners.
I decided not to participate in these challenge because it does not make any sense to compete with irrational entries and voters that do not follow the rules.

Every zero is a circle, but not every circle is a zero - the first impression when viewing the picture should be 'zero'. The viewer shouldn't have to sweat to figure out where in the picture the zero is hiding!

I'm sorry, I disqualified many pictures, but I'm tired of having to go through each one and decide which roundness is a zero and which isn't. Please give really bad ratings to non-numeric entries! =)

When you check the fonts in WORDPERFECT, you will find the the Zero number also appear in Circle or Round form. Please check the font "ITC Bursorama", "Camellia", "Circle", "Copperplate Gothic", "Engravers' Gothic",
and many more. Photographic is also a kind of art.............. :)

I think the voters will take care of that when they pass out .5s. I see what you are talking about. There are many great shots that I will give max score too. Those that submit off topic, I just ignore them or pass them a .5.

Are you going to eliminate 75 % of the Pictures? ...where circles that do NOT represent the number zero are shown? Or that subjectiveness is not subjective.
